Re #11 (comment), we should implement functionality to verify system dependencies like pprof and troubleshoot installation. @krlmlr, you proposed a dr_proffer() function. Is the goal to check all system dependencies (if more come up in the future) or just pprof? I am a bit uncertain about the name. Maybe something like assert_pprof() or assert_proffer_deps()?
