Describing snapshots for which date PURLs have been allocated

Policy

We use the subversion repository to host files. Releases are named by date released YYYY-MM-DD and have tags of that form in the releases directory (some currently in tags, FIXME). Purls of the form http://purl.obolibrary.org/obo/iao/YYYY-MM-DD/____.owl are used to point to these tagged versions and imports statements in the file in the release use these as well. The latest dated version is also pointed to by the ontology URI: http://purl.obolibrary.org/obo/iao.owl. There are also PURLs for the live latest versions in the repository, see development version, below.

One of the components of IAO, ontology-metadata.owl, can be used standalone, is used in several projects as such, and is intended to be the basis for the next version of the OWL translation of the OBO ontologies.

Allocated PURLs

Development version PURLs

OWL 1 usage

Use the PURL for the version you want. Ignore any complaints from tools that the ontology URI doesn't match the physical URI

OWL 2 usage

Use http://purl.obolibrary.org/obo/iao.owl as the ontologyIRI and the PURL for the version you want as the versionIRI.
