Homepage customization

The front page of Gryphondor is customized by tagging stories. Tags that start with db- will never show up on the frontend of the site. Many of these tags are named after typical rankings in the print edition: the "A story" is at the top, followed by the "B story," then the "C story" normally has the largest art on the page.

  • breaking At the top of the page. Use for breaking stories. Multiple articles can have this tag at once.
  • db-story-a Top right story
  • db-story-b Below the A-story
  • db-story-c1 through db-story-c4 are the C-stories (or centerpiece stories). They must have landscape art to display properly.
  • db-story-d1 through db-story-d4 are the D-stories. Individual stories can be omitted and the layout should automatically adjust (i.e. db-story-d4 is rarely needed)
  • db-story-m1 and db-story-m2 are the multimedia stories. Each must have a featured photo.
  • db-story-ns, db-story-sp, db-story-ae, and db-story-op are each section's "cover" stories. Opinion's cover photo is automatically cropped to be vertical.

The rest of the stories on the page are either hard-coded (and on the todo list to un-hard-code) or are dynamically generated. Make sure you follow the installation guide for proper category slugs.
