Dean Church is a Hack for LA volunteer who mentors local first generation college students. His mentees range from high school, college, through first and second jobs. He mentees have come through the following organizations and programs:
- PledgeLA/UCLA Riordan Mentors Program
- United Way Orange Country/United for Student Success
- Hack for LA
Why Do I mentor?
Motivations for me to seek out mentees:
2. The opportunity to connect in a meaningful exchange of value with individual members of younger generations.
3. Payback for the mentorships and Coaching that I have received along my personal and professional journey.
4. To engage in conversations about the Future of Work from fresh perspectives.
5. To learn how to communicate with the members of the younger workforce.
6. To help "underdog" populations have a chance of defining and creating their desired outcomes.
7. To have my ideas and approaches challenged in a safe and open environment.
8. My belief in the power to attract serendipity via the building of non-traditional networks of interest.
Thanks for asking.
Cheers,
Dean
