Updated axios to 0.24 (latest). Removed a number of debug logging calls

Updated axios to 0.24, which fixes the issue where the response interceptor was never called.
Cancellation has changed since 0.22. This might need to be looked into.
Otherwise: the loading indicator disappears when there are no more active network calls.
