What is the feature request? What problem does it solve?

Currently, the handling of server requests appears to be less reader-friendly, potentially leading to confusion regarding its implementation. You can review the code at https://github.com/vmware/versatile-data-kit/blob/main/projects/vdk-plugins/vdk-jupyter/vdk-jupyterlab-extension/vdk_jupyterlab_extension/handlers.py.

The purpose of this ticket is to enhance the request handling process and improve code presentation for better comprehension.
