Monetization
Life of Wilbur has the capacity for monetization in the following ways. The proceeds for monetization can be used for further development as well as for charitable causes relating to climate change. Life of Wilbur's revenue model is free-to-play with additional purchasable content. This model has been proven to be successful. The free-to-play aspect draws players in and allows them to experience the game as well as learn about climate change. This gives a sense of pride and accomplishment, as well encouraging them to buy additional content. After playing, those who want more content are welcome to pay for more. The player can also feel good about spending money on Life of Wilbur as the part of the proceeds will go towards climate change prevention.
There is the potential to sell cosmetic content that will give the player more enjoyment for the game without hindering those that do not want to pay. There can be skins for Wilbur that change his appearance.
There is the potential to purchase more levels for players. We expect that many players will want more content after finishing the first three story levels in the game. To fulfill this need, we can offer more levels (DLC) for an affordable price.
Life of Wilbur will have links so the player can donate money directly to charities that benefit the issues highlighted in the game. For example, there will be the option to donate to the WWF, who are a charity concerned with the conservation of polar bears and other endangered species. Donating to these charities via Life of Wilbur will unlock content directly related to the charities work, such as more polar bears to talk to at the summit level. We hope Life of Wilbur can raise awareness and funding for these charities.
