When I wrote that section, I was too defensive (why not removing support). Some people have indicated real use cases in various comments (why wanting support), e.g.: #14 (comment), #40 (comment), #17 (comment), so that it should be acknowledged that optional delete is positively useful (although arguably not a killer feature).
