Hello rigaya,

I hope you are well. I want to thank you for your hard work and dedication in developing NVEnc. I would like to inform you about an issue I have encountered with the latest version of NVEnc 7.77. Below are the details:

Issue Description:

NVEnc Version: 7.77

Operating System: Windows 11

Driver Version: 566.36

Problem Description: When I encode files with Dolby Vision, they are detected as Dolby Vision on my TV, but the screen remains completely white, and I can only hear the audio. This issue seems to be specific to my case, as reverting to version 7.73 works fine for me.

I appreciate your attention to this matter and hope you can suggest a solution. If you need more information or additional details, please let me know.

Thank you and best regards

Thank you for sharing the issue.

Would you please let me know the following 3 information?

  1. Would you please let me know the exact command line used?

  2. Would you please let me know the detailes of the input file like screenshot of MediaInfo?

  3. Would you please let me know if the issue occurs with NVEnc 7.75? From NVEnc 7.73 to 7.77, there are changes with dolby vision handling before and after 7.75, and I want to make sure which change is causing this issue.

dolby-vision-art.mp4.MediaInfo.txt

command line:
--qvbr 25 --codec h265 --preset quality --output-depth 10 --tier high --multipass 2pass-full --dolby-vision-profile 8.1 --dolby-vision-rpu W:\TempPelis\dolby-vision-art_temp\HDRDVmetadata.rpu --colorrange limited --chromaloc 2 --mv-precision half-pel

With version 7.73 it works fine, but from there on, all the following versions give me the same error.
It happens to me with all the videos that contain Dolby Vision.

Thank you for providing the information.

I think I've found the case, would you please have a test with the following test build and see if it fixes the issue?

Thank you for your response.
I have re-encoded the same video, and now it plays correctly. I will continue testing, and if I encounter any other issues, I will comment here. Thank you very much.

@rigaya

Exactly the same problem with QSV 7.75!

My graphics card, INTEL A750 SDK 2.13, works flawlessly with version 7.73.

@Bandid0 Thank you for confirming, I have updated to NVEnc 7.78 for this fix.

@RoadrunnerHD Please try QSVEnc 7.76 which includes same fix for this issue.

Thank you very much.
It’s working again now!

Will you ever develop a VVC encoder?

@Bandid0, @RoadrunnerHD Thank you for confirming, I'll have this issue closed as it seems to be fixed with NVEnc 7.78. Please reopen if there are any related issues.

@RoadrunnerHD

Will you ever develop a VVC encoder?

I'll have a try once it comes supported on NVENC hardware (but I don't know when it will happen).
