Ignore unexpecte files in the log directory.

some filesystems (e.g. NFS) create hidden files to deal with deletion
of open files. The presence of a file: .nfs000000000000000 would stop
the osiris log from initialising.

This commit updates the code to ignore such files and proceed anyway.
