Objective

We are validating the ability to update the contents (language, query, time range, filters) of an existing saved query and save the updates as a new saved query.

What to test

Update Permutations:

  1. query

  2. filters

  3. time range

  4. language

Flags: data.savedQueriesNewUI.enabled: true/false

Scenario Steps Expected result
Create a new Saved Query by updating an existing saved query
  • Navigate to Discover
  • Click on Open Saved Query Button
  • Select a Saved Query from the list
  • Update any combination of Update permutations listed above and save the changes by clicking on save query button save it as a new Saved Query
  • Validate you can't have the New Saved Query name same as previous
  • Refresh the Page
  • Click on Open Saved Query Button
  • Select the original Saved Query
  • Verify that the original Saved Query is unchanged
  • Refresh the Page
  • Click on Open Saved Query Button
  • Select the new Saved Query
  • Verify the updated contents are available in Discover

What do we need to make sure the test can be written

Steps to setting up the scenario

  1. Have at least 1 existing workspace with index patterns

  2. Have one workspace without index patterns
