There's a couple reasons I want to remove this for Talos:

  1. I cannot get it working in my home cluster, there's too many inconsistencies to go over but it mainly comes down to Ceph getting all weird. I can't imagine it playing nice with Longhorn either.
  2. When bootstrapping your cluster SUC will automatically kick off, with k3s this isn't a problem because it's a noop as it checks versions to make sure there is a upgrade to handle. With Talos, watching flux rollout your deployments while your nodes are rebooting isn't the best UX as it might cause issues.

If there's improvements made the above concerns I'll revisit this.
