Liberate your Desktop and push i3 to its limits! GPLv3 Version: 1.0.1b ---- Before you do anything ---- I'm testing nulli3 at two displays with 2560x1080, 2048x1152 resolutions on two GNU/Linux Arch and Debian/Sid machines so things might seem a little bit magnified at lower resolutions. At this moment I'm applying "config.kde". An introduction to i3/nulli3 (old): https://youtu.be/rBAgYa0zS30 ---- Download nulli3 ---- # git clone --depth=1 https://github.com/null--/nulli3 ---- More About i3 ---- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yAq_Enj_d2Q https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSPcQ7Sdoh4 https://i3wm.org/docs/userguide.html ---- Bindings ---- * The nulli3 supports almost every default key bindings originally defined by i3wm. * Here, is a list of key-bindings of most used key bindings defined inside nulli3 config files. These bindings are written in EMACS-style form, which means: E=Esc, M=Meta, A=Alt, C=Ctrl, S=Shift, T=Tab, D=Del * Key bindings are CaSe SeNsItIvE, for example 'C' stands for Ctrl while 'c' stands for the English letter 'c'. * Examples: - ACc means Alt + Ctrl + c - ACD means Alt + Ctrl + Del - MSm means Meta + Shift + m * Remember these 4 bindings: - Terminal: M<Enter> - Run a Command: ME - Run an App: Md - File Manager: MSo * Power, Display and Session Management: - Poweroff: MCp - Reboot: MCr - Suspend: MCs - Hibernate: MCh - Lock: ACl - Logout: MCl * Fast Run: - Control Center: MCc - System Monitor: MSz - File Manager (root): MSp - Web Browser: MSw - Editor: MSe - Player: MSa * Window Management - Kill a window: A<F4> or MSq - Switch to another Workspace: M<0-9> or Mm - Send A Window to another Workspace: MS<0-9> or MSm - Move Between Windows: M<arrows> - Move a Window: MS<arrows> - Focus right: AT - Fullscreen: Mf - Floating mode: MS<space> - Change Focus (floating <-> tiling): M<space> - Tabbed mode: Mw - Split mode: Me - Stack mode: Ms * Other Bindings - Invert Screen: MSi - Restart i3: MSr - i3 Console: MCE ---- Requirements ---- * Core: - i3wm - kde-base and plasma (or plasma-meta) - kdesudo (Arch users must get it from AUR) - dwm (or dwmenu) - nitrogen - spectacle - xcalib (Arch user most also install xorg meta-package and xcalib from AUR) - conky - acpi ---- Install the nulli3 Desktop ---- * Link (ln -s) or copy ./nulli3 to ~/.i3 # cat ~/.i3/scripts/install.sh * Finally: # sh ~/.i3/scripts/install.sh * Change network interface variables based on your linux distro: ("eth" and "wlan" variables are defined somewhere near the begining of this file:) # nano .i3/scripts/conky.lua ---- Post Installation ---- * If you're using i3 alongside KDE then add /usr/bin/nulli3-kde to your startup applications: System Settings > Startup and Shutdown > Autostart > [Add Program] * You may want to set your default programs under the "Default Programs" part at "DEFINE" section inside config.kde file. * You can change nulli3 theme by uncommenting or changing color schemes at the "UI" and "Theme" sections of the config file. * Take a look at "STARTUP" and "The Last Part" sections at the end of ".i3/config" or ".i3/config.kde" file, you may want to change them to suit your needs. ---- FAQs and Troubles ---- * How can I set a custom wallpaper? Use "nitrogen"! * How can I customize my status bar? Just edit ".i3/scripts/status.sh", ".i3/scripts/conky-json.conf"" or ".i3/scripts/i3status.conf". You might need to change eth, wlan, tun and ppp variables at the top of ".i3/scripts/conky.lua". * Is it possible to change my desktop's theme? a) Do it in your control center (MCc) b) GTK: Hit ME (or Md) then type "gtk-chtheme" and hit "Enter", now change your gtk theme. * If notifications are shown unthemed, Try these: # sudo apt-get purge dunst # killall -9 dunst # notify-send "Hello" If these doesn't fixed it try: # sudo apt-get remove notification-daemon # sudo dpkg-reconfigure notify-osd * Custom resolution: Device name: # xrandr | grep -e " connected [^(]" | sed -e "s/\([A-Z0-9]\+\) connected.*/\1/" Generate a new xrandr mode: # cvt <Height> <Width> <Freq.> Add the generated new mode: # sudo xrandr --newmode <CVT Command> Apply: # sudo xrandr --addmode <Device Name> <Config Name> Make it permanent: # sudo nano /etc/X11/Xsession.d/45custom_xrandr >> xrandr --newmode <CVT Command> >> xrandr --addmode <Device Name> <Config Name> >> xrandr --output <Device Name> --mode <Config Name> Example: # cvt 2304 1296 60 # sudo xrandr --newmode "2304x1296_60.00" 251.25 2304 2464 2712 3120 1296 1299 1304 1344 -hsync +vsync # sudo xrandr --addmode eDP-1 2304x1296_60.00 # sudo xrandr --output eDP-1 --mode 2048x1152_60.00
