Fixes an issue with the auto-updater (again). I think I finally got it working now. Sorry for any inconvenience if you saw all the warnings spewed.
(I had been testing by copying in the plugin_updater in locally but not from the proper release which was missing a file. Similarly, I was testing this project that way and thus missed the issue with .gitattribute being a little off.)
