For the record, this has been fixed by #99223 |
This is follow up of #99039
What would you like to be added:
Volume resizing code should compare size of a block device with size of the filesystem on it and resize the filesystem to maximum available size automatically. This should be done in kubernetes/mount-utils, as suggested in #99039.
Why is this needed:
When a volume snapshot is restored to a volume that is bigger than the original volume, or a volume is cloned to a bigger volume, CSI drivers must enlarge the filesystem before / on the first mount. Having a common function(s) to compare block volume size (e.g.
blockdev --getsize64 /dev/xyz
) and size of the filesystem (dumpe2fs -h /dev/xyz
/xfs-info /dev/xyz
) would reduce code duplication in CSI drivers. We do not need this behavior in kubelet, only in CSI drivers, so it should be optional.
