Neuroglancer states for proofreading

The simple version

Bookmark ng.banc.community as your "home page" neuroglancer state for proofreading and annotating in the BANC.

More details

For working in the BANC, we request that you ALWAYS use neuroglancer states with the following two features:

  • The image data should be left-right flipped relative to the default orientation that neuroglancer would typically show.
    • This flip puts the fly's left side on the left of your screen and the fly's right side on the right of your screen. This will help avoid confusion when adding annotations to the dataset about what is on the left versus the right.
  • The voxel size should be [4, 4, 45] nm.
    • This is the voxel size that the CAVE tables expect annotations to be specified in.

Taken together, your BANC neuroglancer states should always look something like this:

The two key features in this image, corresponding to the two bullet points above, are:

  • The crosshairs in the middle of the image data have the red line pointing LEFT (instead of right) when the green line points down.
  • The top bar says 4nm, 4nm, 45nm

Zetta and the CAVE team have recommended we use spelunker.cave-explorer.org (a recent neuroglancer version with lots of nice updates compared to to the older neuromancer-seung-import.appspot.com and ngl.flywire.ai). Here is a base proofreading state through spelunker. Please bookmark it and make sure to always start from this state, or an equivalent one with the image data left-right flipped and the voxel size set to [4, 4, 45] nm.
