The tags power=sub_station and power=station have been deprecated for the past several years, and the number of features with these tags is steadily decreasing.

power=sub_station is much less popular than power=substation (300k > 13k)
substation-vs-sub_station

power=station has dropped steadily (3k) vs power=plant (19k).
station-vs-plant
