The thing is, @alisondy pointed out that this is just going to be reflected in our last /stable/ release. I checked if there's a global readthedocs way to resolve this, but I couldn't find it. This might be the only way to do it. The most global it will easily get. 🤷

@dholbach I think we may be able to enable the feature that warns people if they are not looking at the latest version of the documentation (with a likewise banner), that would guide them towards the right message.

Looks like it's only available for Sphinx projects (we're using mkdocs).

Maybe we land this change first, as it will at least resolve things for ALL pages of /stable/ and /latest/ and next we worry about old releases?

Is the look of it too disruptive?
