It should be possible to specify a layout type / dimension just like the PDF generation (preserve_layout / print, with dimensions).

Use case for the feature:
Generating a png with only a visualization from a dashboard

Generating a png with only a visualization from a dashboard

You can do that by generating a PNG from the visualization editor - the visualization does not need to be embedded in a dashboard to be captured with PNG reports.

It is possible :)

Here's a 7.3.1 screenshot, of the Visualization Edit screen, showing the Copy POST URL button which can be used as a webhook URL for automatic report generation.

The blue button will fire the webhook to Kibana immediately and trigger PNG generation. The white button will give you the URL to control the firing.

Controlling different layout for visualization doesn't seem like it would give a lot of positive impact. For a single visualization, having the graphic occupy the entire page is what we expect people want, and that's the default behavior. I think the issue here was that it was hard to discover in the UI how to generate a PDF report for a single visualization. We have a design issue to elevate Reporting more in the UI: #39620
