I'm currently in the process of moving from vim-sandwich to mini.surround. My first impression is very good; thanks!

One minor, but still substantial, difference is that I had vim-sandwich set up so that when I did a dot-repeat, it would not move my cursor. This feels much more natural to me, and I'm curious if it is possible to get the same behaviour in mini.surround?

This was previously brought up and I am afraid I don't think it is a good design. I can see how this can natural natural, but it doesn't fit nicely with how built-in operators work (which is explicitly documented). See #1409 and this comment for more details.

No worries. Discussions and issues being separate contributes to it somewhat, they were clearly separated only very recently.

I guess I will have to consider new workflows. I think the design choice of avoiding the complexity involved here is sensible, and I respect that. Keeping things simple makes it much more maintainable and probably also makes it easier to implement more advanced features.

Code complexity does play a big part in the decision, but mostly it is motivated by the fact that moving cursor to the start of the operated region is how built-in operators work. This is used as motivation for other modules that provide operators.

Strictly, speaking, sd and sr are not "operators" per se (they don't require a textobject/motion after them), but I think they are close enough (require surrounding id and are dot-repeatable) to also behave by these rules.
