According to the Postgres Documentation
jsonbis faster then thejsontype.Additionally there is no
equaloperator defined for thejsontype while there should be one defined forjsonb. Which became apparent when usingdistinctwhile also having an expand. As the expand column will be ofjsontype it will also be compared fordistinct.
