How to setup buffer ring with incremental buffers consumption?

How to use io_uring_setup_buf_ring with incremental buffer consumption enabled (IOU_PBUF_RING_INC set) in code which works on latest and on older kernels. If flag is set calling io_uring_setup_buf_ring returns EINVAL on kernels before 6.12.
The solution is to try with flag set and in the case of EINVAL to try again without flag.
Do I miss some more elegant solution?

You didn't miss anything, that would be the way to detect presence of this feature at setup time.
