We need testers for new patches for version 1.2.55 (windows 10-11 only)

here's what you need to do for testing:

  • run a full cleanup using the script, this will remove the current Spotify client and its remnants
  • press Win + R then type "powershell," and press Enter
  • copy the code line and paste it into the PowerShell terminal to install the latest version 1.2.55:
iex "& { $(iwr -useb 'https://raw.githubusercontent.com/SpotX-Official/spotx-official.github.io/main/run.ps1') } -new_theme -v 1.2.55.235.g5eaa0904-463 -sp-over -block_update_on -podcasts_on"
  • log in to the client and start listening to music for 30-60 minutes (the more, the better.) without closing it, you can minimize it
  • try to listen to different albums or playlists, don't focus on just one
  • report any errors or the appearance of ads here. Screenshots are welcome
  • If you have not encountered any ads during the given timeframe, also inform us
  • report how much time you spent listening to music in one session

I've listened to Spotify version 1.2.55 for about ~30 minutes on Windows 10 and I have not encountered any ads.

Hi! I just got an ad in Spotify version 1.2.55, and I only played one song (this install is an update from 1.2.53, I'll try doing it with a clean install)

following the instructions, played music for 30 minutes or so and no ads, but large ad after it had been paused for a while. probably paused for 30 mins or so, never interacted with the app and just noticed the ad.

i live in the states and don't have premium

after clicking back into the client, it minimizes into the banner ad above the player, and then disappeared after 10s.

and again, clockwork after im not playing anythinga nd not interacting with the app for a few minutes

It's probably region-dependent?

@Warren1001

Thank you for the information. I understand this is just a banner without audio ads. I can't reproduce it on two us accounts.

You also mentioned that you live in the states. A clarifying question: during this test, was your ip address also located in the states? Since some people use VPNs and other tools to change the location of their ip address.

Also, what region do you have listed in your spotify account?

@IRainman

Undoubtedly, there are many dependencies, and region is one of them.

this type of bug is fairly common in the native client. Observe it further.

Ok, I'm going to try reinstalling Spotify with these instructions. Since I'm reading that it may be region dependent, my region is Spain, so maybe you can replicate the problem with a Spotify account from some European country

I attempted to fix this case. To continue testing, you must execute the instructions anew
