Quick disclaimer for common terms and synonyms, sometimes a different term might be used to indicate the same thing.

Programs might sometimes be referred to as instruments and vice versa. Zones might sometimes be referred to as tones and vice versa. Waves might sometimes be referred to as samples and vice versa.
Note that samples can refer to both a short sound or an individual pulse in a PCM stream.
