This can also used in an other non rustup context to improve usability.

I am not sure about the variable name, but if this fixes issues with Nix, let's put it in.

Just please note that if someone requests that we change the name before merging into mainline, it could change and I assume that would require a change in Nix files. i.e. let's not promise stability on that name just yet, if you agree.

That's fine for me. Before this we patch the Makefile with sed. Not sure which is more stable :-).

I also see pipeline fails? Maybe something with ?= ? I don't have a working setup with rustup at the moment. Maybe you could Test to make sure it works as expected with rustup?

The latest force-push (on 3f46885) seems to pass, do you mean the previous ones?

Im not sure which reversion. If it works, I'm happy 😀

xennet_destroy_queues() relies on info->netdev->real_num_tx_queues to
delete queues. Since d7dac08
("net-sysfs: update the queue counts in the unregistration path"),
unregister_netdev() indirectly sets real_num_tx_queues to 0. Those two
facts together means, that xennet_destroy_queues() called from
xennet_remove() cannot do its job, because it's called after
unregister_netdev(). This results in kfree-ing queues that are still
linked in napi, which ultimately crashes:

Fix this by calling xennet_destroy_queues() from xennet_uninit(),
when real_num_tx_queues is still available. This ensures that queues are
destroyed when real_num_tx_queues is set to 0, regardless of how
unregister_netdev() was called.

commit 869f38a upstream.

If an error occurs in the probe() function, we should remove the polling
timer that was alarmed earlier, otherwise the timer is called with
arguments that are already freed, which results in a crash.
