Please read this if you have a question, it might have been answered before.

Sidebar shows: 'Required Filament unknown', why?

The required weight calculation is depending on several things (see below). If one thing is missing, then no calculation could be done.

• OctoPrint must have calculated the needed filament length of the selected file. This could be turned off ('never'), in the background ('Only when idle (not printing)') or turned on ('Always').
  See OctoPrint-Settings: Features (in the bottom). Values are stored in .metadata.json file in upload-folder.
• For converting the length into weight a spool must be selected for the needed tool
• The selected spool needs these attributes: density and diameter
