could you clarify what you mean by "once the experiment ramps up"? we would prefer not to add update support without update tests in the same PR

@NickElliot the backend flag which is guarding the update support will be ramped up completely in ~10 days, post that I will add update tests for this field. For now I have tested the update through the test for my internal project locally.
