Hi! sdf-test is currently crashing under Linux/X11 due to a bug in x11-dl:

Finished dev [unoptimized + debuginfo] target(s) in 31.63s
     Running `target/debug/mcsdf-font-tech-demo`
thread 'main' panicked at 'attempted to leave type `std::mem::ManuallyDrop<xlib_xcb::Xlib_xcb>` uninitialized, which is invalid', /home/czak/
.rustup/toolchains/stable-x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu/lib/rustlib/src/rust/library/core/src/mem/mod.rs:666:9
note: run with `RUST_BACKTRACE=1` environment variable to display a backtrace

I believe it's this or related to this: AltF02/x11-rs#99

Solution

Bump up the x11-dl dependency to the latest version.
The program now builds and runs correctly for me.

Notes

I used an older toolchain 1.40.0 to obtain this diff.
Lockfile format changed in 1.41.0 and was resulting in a huge diff which I didn't want to throw at you :)

Oh... sorry for not looking at your PR. I almost forgot about Github :) Today I was updating dependencies to preserve a demo on multiple platforms. If you like, you can test if the demo works for you.

master builds and runs nicely for me now. No need for this PR anymore. Thanks!
