Are you an Automattician? Please test your changes on all WordPress.com environments to help mitigate accidental explosions.

  • To test on WoA, go to the Plugins menu on a WordPress.com Simple site. Click on the "Upload" button and follow the upgrade flow to be able to upload, install, and activate the Jetpack Beta plugin. Once the plugin is active, go to Jetpack > Jetpack Beta, select your plugin, and enable the remove/jetpack/account-protection-strict-mode branch.

    • For jetpack-mu-wpcom changes, also add define( 'JETPACK_MU_WPCOM_LOAD_VIA_BETA_PLUGIN', true ); to your wp-config.php file.
  • To test on Simple, run the following command on your sandbox:

    bin/jetpack-downloader test jetpack remove/jetpack/account-protection-strict-mode

    bin/jetpack-downloader test jetpack-mu-wpcom-plugin remove/jetpack/account-protection-strict-mode

No changelog entries necessary here as this is only reverting changes made in a prior PR that was already merged into the project branch.

Works wonderfully. The both views are a bit inconsistent because:

  1. In Jetpack we explain with the small "info" icon a bit more about what this setting actually does, I think we should too in Protect, and
  2. In Jetpack, we don't display the recommendation to enable it when it is disabled, I think we should?

But both of these can be addressed in a future PR.

Thx @ArSn!

The both views are a bit inconsistent because

I've gone ahead and added these as a comment for the tasks that relate to finalizing the Jetpack and Protect UIs.
