I very rarely crash with what appears to be a data race as described in PixarAnimationStudios/OpenUSD#1742. However, the crash is so rare that even if I fixed it I wouldn't be able to verify it. Submit the code as-is for now and hopefully we'll be able to find a more consistently reproducible workflow.
The crash can only occur in scenes with UsdSkel in them. Those scenes draw totally broken without this change, so there is no reduction in stability for other workflows.
