protocol-wise, is it important for me to make changes as PRs rather than direct edits? it will really slow me down, particularly given the different time zones, if i have to wait for someone else to approve and merge a PR every time i want to make a minor edit to a BOSC page.

Ask @gedankenstuecke, but at this point I would think the priority is getting the theme style and structure ready, and perhaps confirming we can replicate some key fancy bits of layout on given pages, rather than content itself. I fear you would be wasting your time polishing content which we might want to splat and replace with a fresh WordPress export?

sure, good point. i also want to play with some layout, though. i will keep in mind that it may get replaced.

Feel free to merge it in when you're happy with it @nlharris! For playing around with the layouts etc. I'd also recommend installing Hugo on your computer and just building it locally, as that cuts down on the time a lot.

Once Hugo is installed, you can run hugo server from the project root-folder and it will give you a little web server that even automatically refreshes every time you save a modified file.

How long does github.io take to refresh when a change is merged here?
