As a starting point I (as a maintainer of this project) would like to ask, whether you have some opinions of how to deal with issue 98.

Display the name and version of the less filter

One idea would be to just start the message with
(lesspipe v2.06) append : to filename to view the ... file
One could also revert to the string without the (...) by checking, if LESSQUIET has some specific content.
