Spot enforces serial to only be used on columns that are the primary key.

this line of the MySql adapter is the one in question:

$syntax .= ($fieldInfo['primary'] && $fieldInfo['serial']) ? ' AUTO_INCREMENT' : '';

The example on this page shows that it can be used on other indexes as well, such as 'Unique'

Interesting. I guess this code stems from a bad assumption. It should be easy to change.
