I have build a RPM package myself on Fedora 41. Do it creates of every STL file a PNG image, it doesn't apply it as thumbnail for the STL-file. I have included an image of my resulting folder to explain what I exactly mean by that.

I have installed stl-thumb version 0.5.0, it is useable for me for now, but I hope it will be fixed in a future release.

Thanks;

i.r. W.K.K. Hofman.

This is odd - I am also using Fedora 41, and I built the release version and generated and installed an RPM, and I am seeing the STL files themselves appear with thumbnails, rather than having a separate PNG representation. I wonder what might be different between our systems.
