@aerorahul I agree it is more ideal to have PIO as an external dependency - however, this decision was made since it is difficult to get NCO approval for dependent libraries. So, please keep this part in mind if you decide to proceed this way.

If PIO is used only by CMEPS then what is the problem? Unless PIO is also needed elsewhere, why make another library to maintain?
