The main purpose of this function set is to extract the metadata from the output list.
There are two types of metadata we want to extract:

the metadata from the spectral data. one table is created containing all the spectral data concerning metadata
the metadata from the device and the measurement settings.

Furthermore, a metadata dump can be extracted containing all the non spectral related metadata.
we think about making this output table optional.
