Hi! I definitely get the idea, and other people have requested it too. It would be nice!...but sadly Bridgy Fed doesn't do this. It's doable for simple cross-posting, but for the full bidirectional bridging that Bridgy Fed does, it's just too much complexity to try to do and also allow full user control on both sides: https://fed.brid.gy/docs#use-like-normal |

Hi! I have both a Bluesky account and a Mastodon account, and I am going to bridge them both to Bridgy Fed. But I was wondering if it would be possible to add a feature to Bridgy Fed that lets the two bridged accounts act as one unified account. Any post I write on one account would be crossposted to the other, and all replies received by either account would appear on each others’ versions of the same posts. Essentially, my Bluesky account would pass replies it receives to my Mastodon account so my Mastodon account can display them without the accounts who wrote the replies needing to be bridged. Obviously this would also work in the reverse direction. And ideally this would work for Boosts/Quote Posts, favorites, etc, all both ways. The biggest issue with Bridgy Fed is that I essentially have no reach and no ability to interact with users who are too lazy or tech- disinterested to activate the bridge. I think this would solve the issue. My Bluesky account would act as a liaison between my Mastodon account and other Bluesky users. My Mastodon account would act as a liaison between my Bluesky account and other Mastodon users.
sorry if I’ve poorly explained this. I just wish I could reach BS and Mast users in a way where they can see each others’ replies and interact with each other. The only way I can imagine is by having one account on each platform and the two accounts would act as two ends of my own personal bridge.
