ALTER SESSION parameter

Currently having an issue in polars/connectorx in that ALTER SESSION needs to be run in order get the date set properly for the rest of the query. However, when I run the query (either from being read from a sql file or a variable), it will return "Table does not exist" if Alter Session is set first, but it will not read the rest of the Query. Is there a way to get connectorx to read the ALTER SESSION parameter and then continue reading the rest of the query?
