This is a tracking issue for finding a long-term home for the Community Rustbridge team.

Leads:

Hey there, I'm James, the Leadership Council member for the Launching Pad Team, and as part of #118, I'm starting the triage process of trying to find permanent homes for teams currently under the launching pad.

In this first pass, I'm making tracking issues for each of the teams, starting the discussion on whether you think there is a reasonable team you think would make sense to move under, and in general checking whether the members of these teams are still actively working on things related to these teams.

There is also a separate tracking issue for the top level community team here: #128

Could anyone help me enumerate the current activities and responsibilities of the Community Rustbridge subteam, and whether this subteam is generally still active?

Thank you!

The RustBridge team is generally responsible for curation of the RustBridge learning materials that are/have being/been used at various Rust conferences, and separate events. This includes a-very-brief-intro-to-rust, and Rustlings also came into its current incarnation by way of RustBridge, although I wouldn't attach it to this team.

The team is de facto just me though, and I've not had the motivation to get it anywhere for a long time now, so it's basically defunct. I would hypothetically still be interested in getting it going again, there's been some work done in that direction last year, but we're missing active volunteers and probably also a general push to improve in-person learning materials for Rust.

Thank you @shadows-withal! I don't think Rustbridge is alone in the state you described, where current members are not able to continue to maintain the efforts, but they are still important things to have. I've taken note of this and started discussing this with the Council.

I'll circle back when we've had time to discuss if there is anything we can help with this, feel free to add any more notes or anything else relevant in the mean time.
