I know I am a little late to the party on this one, but I was wondering if there was anyway to change this. I also suspect a firmware lock on the keypad. This feature seems kinda dumb to me. Why perma lock the keypad instead of having it be configurable. I tried to ask RD Tech about it and all I got in response was "We dont want to release our protocol right now, sorry." Any ideas on this subject? Would we need to completely reverse engineer the firmware to do this? Speaking of custom firmware are there any people attempting to write custom firmware for the RD6006?
UPDATE!: Unisoft on the EEVBlog forum has been devolving a custom firmware! The firmware includes a feature to disable the keyboard lock while communicating via usb. There is one drawback, wifi no longer works, but he said he would add it back in the future. https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/ruideng-riden-rd6006-dc-power-supply/200/
So while developing the GUI extension I noticed that the key lock stays on no matter what you set.
I have a feeling the firmware is ignoring the register and keeping it on.
