Here's the reprex using v3.1.1 but I guess you already knew that. l <- c("cli", "glue")
d <- deparse(l)
s <- paste0("install.packages(", d, ")")
# Replacement of `d` causes additional backticks
cli::cli_alert_info("To install, run {.code install.packages({d})}")
#> ℹ To install, run `install.packages(c("cli", "glue"))`
# No additional backticks
cli::cli_alert_info("To install, run {.code {s}}")
#> ℹ To install, run `install.packages(c("cli", "glue"))` Created on 2022-02-16 by the reprex package (v2.0.1) Session infosessioninfo::session_info()

I am not sure if this is actually intended behavior. When I replace a variable using the
.code
class, this causes additional backticks around both the output of the variable and the rest of the string and also inserts blank spaces.I hope this example makes it more clear
