Is it possible to configure pattern lab to display the patternType value (e.g. Text, Lists, Images) as a heading on the generated pages? Seems like a config level item but I couldn't find anything related to this.
I ask for this because on occasion it becomes hard to tell where you are at when scanning through views with lots and lots of elements.

It's not currently possible. It's baked into the next version but I'm still a few weeks away from having a stable release for that. Some minor fixes have turned into an entire overhaul of Pattern Lab. A lot more flexibility for ideas like this but taking me some time cleaning up the dust.
FWIW, you're going to have the ability to expand on the "types" by providing custom headings that aren't tied to folder names as well as Markdown-based descriptions.
I'll update this issue when I think feature-plugins is a bit more stable to install. Still trying to solidify the back-end, the install process with composer, and then figuring how best to instruct people to contribute. Basically everything has become a "package." Issue #51 covers where I'm at.
