How to get pandas dataframe to display as table in PDF output

Hi,

I'm just getting started with jupyter-book and have run into an issue. I have a jupyter notebook with heavy use of pandas. When I build as html output with

jupyter-book build

the pandas dataframes display as tables. When I build as PDF (which is my goal) I get plain text dataframes, equivalent to doing print in a notebook cell.

My understanding is that there are quite a few steps in the toolchain leading to PDF; does anyone have any suggestions about where to start looking for an option to get a nicely-formatted table when displaying dataframes?

Hey @mojones It seems like you are on the right path using to rendering your output in PDF Format. There are few ways to get to this
But first of all you can transform the PDF file to a PDF document, however you'll be required to write a CSS file to make the rendering effective. And example of this procedure can be found in the link below

Another possibility would be using nbsphinx as part of a Sphinx-based workflow. nbsphinx provides more granular control over notebook-to-PDF conversions and integrates well with LaTeX, this will involve modifying the configuration file. I personally would recommend the second option as it seems more scalable.
