Welcome to the discussion forum of the npm public roadmap. Have a burning idea for how we can improve npm? We are all ears! Feel free to make suggestions to any part of npm, the cli, the registry, the website, you are only limited by your imagination.

Open a discussion here with some high level thoughts and we'll get back to you within a week. If we decide to prioritize an idea we'll make an issue and add it to the roadmap.

Keep in mind, problems are just as important as solutions (sometimes even more so). You don't need to know how to solve a problem in order to bring it to our attention. If you think there is a way we can make npm better we want to hear from you.

This is the most important part of your discussion. What is the problem you would like us to solve. Please be concise and specific. Try to avoid including solutions in this section, we will get to that next.

Potential Solution

In this section please describe ways to solve the problem you have highlighted. This can include new products or features that would need to be implemented by npm as well as existing solutions from the ecosystem. Please keep in mind that the eventual solution to a problem may look very different than what you propose, but we do aim to be transparent in our decision making process.
