how do I achieve this layout?

I've tried creating two windows then calling split vertical && layout v_accordion on both but I can't keep it consistent, when moving windows in and out the layout gets disrupted and sometimes I see horizontal accordions for some reason. I might be doing this wrong but it's not clicking. I just want two stacks that I can move in and out of like in i3.

I also want this. but I want this to be my default that I can write in the config. Any idea?
