Cloud storage is ideal in terms of housing large files that are viewed piecemeal by clients. One example is 'cloud optimized geotiffs'. This is a large file that when placed behind an HTTP server that supports the HTTP GET RANGE header, allows for clients to retrieve portions of a file that are required at that point in time

I see that another (closed) issue requests this, but there is no answer as to whether the range header is actually supported or not, or whether this will be in the future.

Are you experiencing a specific problem or limitation in your use case?
