I then realized that all GPX files I have in my files are automatically shown under "my tracks" - this is cool but not completely intuitive to me, especially since I was looking for an "import" possibility there before.

I would suggest renaming "my tracks" to "stored" tracks" or similar to emphasise the fact that is just displays gpx files found in the Nextcloud files storage instead (like the favorite feature) requires import of files.

Some steps we can take here:

  1. There should be an emptycontent view for the "Your tracks" menu, saying something like:

Tracks from your Nextcloud will show up here. (gpx, kmz, kml format)

  1. We could have an "Import" button which opens a file picker to upload a track to your Nextcloud Files which will then get scanned.
  2. We could then also think about if imported tracks live somewhere else like in a hidden folder, but having 2 different means of storing would be confusing so I’d advise against that.

Can we arrange the tracks in a kind of folder structure, but only show the folders, which in the end contain tracks. (additionally one could compress folder pathes which only have one track like track4)
At the moment I have 900 tracks in the section, which makes it just unusable.
This would work fine with the point 2 of @jancborchardt. I agree that point 3. is not optimal.

Something like

-track1.gpx
-2019
  -track2.gpx
  -track3.gpx
-2017/09/03/track4.gpx

@tacruc Showing track list with a structure (even a simplified one like you mention) would break the sorting feature.

I'm not very objective on that but being able to sort tracks by date and then use the browser search is enough for me.

@eneiluj I guess that's true, My folders are named as year/month/day, that's why i forgot this aspect.

Just adding that I was also confused as to how the "Your Tracks" section worked. Perhaps a tooltip above "Your Tracks" indicating where the content is coming from would help.
