Agenda

  • Continue to discuss bubbles

Next week

Cancel next week's meeting owing to SC20.

Bubbles - shifting states

Start off with the discussion point - "shifting" sets slide. Dan is of the opinion that these are different versions of the same process set, while Martin is thinking of bubbles. Process sets have names, whereas bubbles currently have names.

Martin Schreiber works us through a diagram of changes_of_resources_ver1_step_by_step. A different slide that looks somewhat like the shifting slide.a RC1 = resource change information (graph_ver2). Martin indicates that he's thinking RS2 and RS3 are temporally separated. RS1 stays around? Seems lie it should if its that task manager. Alternatively, Dan walks us through a model of RS1 to RS2 to RS3 (grow/shrink). Or are we thinking of something like an MPMD style of use? Need to be careful about this last use case - we don't have non-blocking communicator creation at this point. Iterate on this diagram - driven by Dan's feedback. These slides are generated via thinkscape software.

TODOS:

  • work on pseudo-code for the missing:versioning slide
  • Howard add link to ompi prototype and test codes.
