Simply put, my Kindle says "There is a problem parsing the package" upon trying to install the limelight apk from es file manager. Also, I have "Allow Installation of apps from unknown sources" checked, and I have sideloaded other apps like xbmc just fine. Why is Limelight not working on my kindle? Has anyone ever tried this on a Kindle Fire HD?. Please help.

Is this a second generation or first generation Fire HD? Limelight requires Android 4.1 or later which means Fire OS 3.0 or later. Only the second generation Fire HD supports Fire OS 3.0

Ah, I see, Interesting. My kindle Fire HD 8.9 must be one of the older models... I just checked and I'm running System Version 8.4.8_user_4849120. Dam, guess I'll just have to wait to see if amazon will ever update it to Fire OS 3.0. That or, is there any possibility for Limelight to Support android 4 ICS, or is it only possible for Android 4.1 or higher? Is there something special about 4.1 that limelight requires?

Android 4.1 added a Java interface for interacting with the hardware video decoder. It would be possible to support versions back to maybe Android 3.2 by porting all the hardware decoding code to C, but that's not really an effort that we really want to do. Plus most devices running a version of Android that old don't have good enough WiFi implementations anyway.

Ok, I understand now. Hopefully Amazon will create an update for the Fire HD Devices. I guess that, or get a different tablet. Thanks for your help, and thanks for helping code this great project. (I just compiled the latest PC version, and tried the Streaming over internet feature, way cool!) For now, or until amazon releases an update, I'll just use it on my Laptop.
