No Audio with RPi 4 Bullseye #1396
Comments
Thanks for the post, and happy New Year to yourself! There have been quite a few changes to the Pi in the most recent update, and I have no experience of using the HDMI outputs -- maybe other users have. So, let me suggest that you try to see if the output works to the Headphones output. That is:
Remember to check the mixer level with The thing is, if this works, you can eliminate a lot of guesswork. I notice that you configuration file has:
but, just in case, if you want to output to

Hello @mikebrady, Thanks for your quick answer. I will try your suggestions. However, I think, your suggestion is more of a solution with a headphone jack than HDMI. I want to inform you that, those lines were copied from my draft file. They are not related to the essential config file. Sorry for my late answer. I will inform you of the results. PS: I will be appreciated if any HDMI solution. |
Hello, @mikebrady Sorry for the late answer! I have changed settings as you have suggested. Now, Alsamixer shows volume level as same as with my iPhone music level. They are now synchronized. I think sound card options cause the problem. My default soundcard/device option is here: My Kodi shows sound options as vc4-hdmi-0, SNY SONY TV on HDMI I think shairport should use the same option which Kodi uses. However, I don't know how to change it is. I hope this message will give some tips for you and other users :) my problem persists. Thanks for your interest! Best regards. |
Thanks. I suggest you change the configuration file settings in the

Hello again, I have already did this suggestion. But the problem persists. |
Thanks. Let me suggest, for a second time, that you try to see if the output works to the Headphones output. That is:
Does that work? In other words, can you then hear audio from the Headphone jack? You did not indicate if you had actually done this or if it was successful. If it works, it would help to narrow down the problem. Have you looked in the system logs for any messages from Shairport Sync? If there are any, can you post them here, please? |
I have just updated an experimental tool called sps-alsa-explore that might help -- it should list all the ALSA audio devices that can be used by Shairport Sync. On my own Raspberry Pis, the |
I stumbled upon the same error and had no sound. After some trial and error and reinstalls I noticed an warning in "service shairport-sync status" about checking nqptp not reachable. A hadn't enabled the service. After that sound is now working like a charme! |
Hello @mikebrady and @apfelflo89! thank you for your interest and help! I have tried to install nqptp but I think no luck. I am not sure if it is installed or not because while I install it, it says "leaving directory". Anyway, @mikebrady warned for a good spot! Buster was using vc4-fkms-v3d and I was able to use shairport and RPiPlay. Now I have used these instructions and it is working (I have nothing changed on shairport config file.) I will add here my config file. Best regards! here is the config file:

What instructions did you complete please? I've checked the linked thread but could not find a single resolution. |
@johnyboi003, could you describe the problem you’re trying to resolve, or maybe open a new issue please? |
I have already open one, #1424. |
Hello again, I am having confilicts with shairport-sync and kodi 19 so i want to uninstall shairport safely, how can I do that? |

Hello, I have checked previous issues but no chance. I am newbie on RPi and Linux systems, I don't know how to get and provide information to here and expecting help.
My problem is basically, no audio with shairport-sync. I was able to use with RPi Buster, but it is not working with bullseye.
My phone is iPhone 11 with iOS 15.2
I have followed this instructions: (I think I have nothing missed.)
https://github.com/mikebrady/shairport-sync/blob/master/README.md#configuring-shairport-sync
My system has Kodi 19, OS: Bullseye, I have build and I am able to start shairport-sync.
I have installed ALSA and I can open alsamixer on terminal.
Default alsamixer looking like this:
This is how I tried to use:
I am using Kodi audio output with "hw:vc4hdmi0"
This is shairport-sync -h window:
Thanks in advance, and sorry for my long post.
Happy new year!
This is my config file: (I have tried many factors so this might be messy.)
